New Admissions in medical schools in state of Limbo

The interference of Ministry of health and Population on the decision made by Nepal Medical Council of keeping aside the matter of taking additional students for MBBS for the upcoming session has temporarily effected  the admission procedure for new group of students at many colleges throughout the country.

The Ministry of Health and Population has given direction to Nepal Medical Council which is the medical education regulatory body in the country to inform all the medical institution throughout the country to not to go through with the new admission procedure of the applicant for the course of MBBS and BDS .According to one of the member of Nepal Medical Council the MoHP in its letter issued on thursday has strictly instructed Nepal Medical Council to not to work out with its  result of taking more students for MBBS till the next information is given.

Just before 6\7 days Nepal Medical Council has fixed the same no. of students for the course of BDS while has slightly changed the no. of students for the course of MBBS for various medical colleges and medical institutions.A representative from the  MoPH  said that the MoPH has temporarily stopped the enrollment procedure after it received some negative feedback against the Nepal Medical Council on its irregularity and indisciplined   location of  no. of students (quotas) for MBBS.

Previously the Medical Board  and Nepal Medical Council collaboratively  has  fixed the no. of seats  for various college affiliated with the TU after the supervision of all the medical colleges and medical institution.Even so the Nepal Medical Council has increased the no. of MBBS seats  for Nepali Sena  Swasthya Bigyan  Sansthan which is under the supervision of Nepali Army at Sano Bharyang from hundred seats to hundred and fifty seats and Lalitpur based KIST Medical Cllege from seventy five to hundred and thirty five for the upcoming session.

In the same way the no. of seats for Universal College of Medical Sciences which is situated in Bhairahawa was increased from hundred thirty five to hundred and fifty.Similarly Chitwan Medical College was given hundred ant forty seats which is  ten seats less than the previously  provided seats.Finally seventy seats which was given to Gandaki Medical College Teaching Hospital & Research Pvt Ltd located in pokhara were not changed at all.

Any official information regarding this matter is not yet received by Nepal Medical Council.Dr Rishikesh Narayan Shrestha, Director of  KIST Medical College
